Facebook: We want to help you keep up with your ‘star’ friends.

Facebook is definitely trying real hard to make the platform more relevant to its 901+ active  monthly users. This new feature, which popped up at the top of my newsfeed this morning, asks me to ‘star’ Facebook friends who I never want to miss an update from.

What happens when you star someone? You’ll be notified every time they update their status on Facebook – with a star under their name to show their ‘star’ status. I’m still not sure why Facebook thought it necessary, but it is definitely a good tool for the stalkers in all of us. And you definitely don’t want to ‘star’ a Facebook friend who updates their status several times a day. It would be a chore keeping up with the flood of notifications they’ll bring.
